Linear Power Supplies convert ac mains voltages to dc using linear transformer type technology. They offer a very accurate, and very quiet means of converting from ac to dc, and for these reasons they are very popular in laboratory environments, and applications where electrical noise must be kept to a minimum.

Linear Power Supplies have been replaced over recent years by switched mode technology in many applications, so the manufacturers of these units are becoming fewer and fewer. Zentro-Elektrik however have established themselves as a renowned supplier of both laboratory and industrial linear power supplies. Lab VIEW drivers are used in many programmable power supply applications.

Working in the UK through their agent CP Power Automation Ltd, Zentro manufacture linear power supplies, in laboratory, open frame, eurocasette, and rack mounting styles. With voltages from 1 - 400Vdc, currents up to 30A, and power ranges up to 1000W, Linear Power Supplies continue to be the product of choice for many high reliability and critical applications, such as radio transmission stations.

Linear laboratory power supplies often consist of multiple regulator cards driven from one main incoming transformer. This provides great flexibility in the number of variants which can be produced whilst using the same components. Remote control and monitoring of these power supplies can also be provided through the use of analogue remote control signals or IEEE488.2 Interface cards.
