Electronic Loads are devices for the testing of dc sources such as power supplies, batteries, fuel cells etc. These Electronic Loads act as a load bank by drawing out dc current or power from the device being tested, and dissipating it either as heat or via an inverter back into the mains (power recycling load).
All Zentro-Elektrik Electronic Loads are dynamic which means they can be set to two different thresholds and then automatically cycle between the two levels at up to 30kHz. The Electronic DC Loads which CP Power & Automation Ltd
supply all have analogue remote control and monitoring as standard,
and via the use of an option card can be fitted with an IEEE488.2
interface, which comes complete with LabVIEW drivers, enabling
serial communication and networking of up multiple units to a
host PC. In addition RS232 and RS485 can also be used. When testing fuel cells and some power supplies there is often the requirement for full power to be drawn at very low voltages (sometimes as low as zero volts). For this purpose Zentro have developed several Zero Volt Loads whereby an additional power supply is incorporated to jack up the internal voltage and fool the Electronic Load into thinking that a higher dc voltage is present. |
